Diego is actually a near-genius at magic, but is terrible at communicating what he knows to others. The fact that he has become reclusive after a lab accident where some acid made quite horrible burns in his face hasn't helped much, either.
Due to his genius in magic, Diego has created his own form of shorthand in which he writes his lab findings and other magical grimoires and written works. Needless to say, this doesn't make much sense for anyone else than himself.
Diego is obsessed with swords, and dreams about one day making the most powerful magical artifact in the world. His physique allows him to do something most unusual - not only can he make magical weapons, he is also quite adept at wielding them. Though his skill in forging swords can use some work, Diego figures that he has got the time to perfect his art. However, Diego doesn't take to setbacks well, and can brood for days upon end if even the slightest problem occurs.
Exactly how Diego wound up in the mountains in Transylvania is something he himself isn't quite sure of. But he intends to make the most of it - and make a few powerful swords in the bargain.
