The greatest current conflict outside of the warring Kingdoms is the war between Alken and Heinrand. The situation between the two countries had always been complicated, but the real trouble started some time after the dissolution. As known, the dissolution started in the country that would be later known as Alken, due to their partial disbelief in the interpreation of the scripture as well as their relationship and distance from the church making it hard for them to be policed. This crated a fracture with the more southern reaches which consisted of a more diverse group of dwarves and orcs in addition to the regular humans. As Alken built itself up, it focused on the pride of man and national pride. Heinrand did the opposite, focusing on strength through diversity and an understanding, but faithful belief in the saints. This would naturally lead to some friction but in recent times the situation has grown more dire.
The difference in belief became more unreconcilable when Alken decreed that all the saints had been human. This did not mesh well with the remaining minority races in either Alken or Heinrand and many fled from Alken, taking with them valuables and secrets from their former home. Despite Heinrand both gaining greatly from these treasures and secrets but also giving up a great much to accomodate its new citizens, Alken saw it only as a direct form of attack via espionage. These tensions flared quickly, resulting in increased military presence along the border from both sides. However, during this armament, Alken realised it had a great advantage militarily and declared war, citing espionage as its pimary casus belli in addition to wanting to purify the nation of Heinrand from its heretical beliefs.
Although putting up a valiant effort, Heinrand stood little chance and was soon swarmed, most of its soldiers fighting in a guerilla capacity. The situation worsened for Heinrand when Killumen decideded to support its ally Alken and helped with the occupation, using its expert systems to systematically root out remaining opponents. Although still a tense situation, Alken has in all but name fully annexed Heinrand and the maps should be redrawn to reflect this within a few years time.
