Re: Cornish Championships...26,10,97.
Hi... I managed to get to the last four on sunday in the 65- 75K weight
class
10th- 7th gup...
Unfortunatly At the end of 90 secs in my bout with a guy from Penryn club,
we were on equal points..
Another 30secs was added, and the first to score won...
My apponent was not wearing a Do-bok and seemed to be 10th gup...
He had obviously beed studying another martial art for some time, as his
kicks were extremely good
for a supposed white belt..
Anyway I kept him a bay not allowing him to pentrate my defence, and this
obviously annoyed him
as he struck me with a deliberate full contact blow to the face.
I was nearly knocked out and fell to my knees with blood pouring from my
smashed nose..
I spent three hours in hospital with slight conncussion and had to have
xrays to ensure that
my cheek bone was not broken also..
I will have to go back for a operation on my nose in order to straighten
it...
Today my left eye is nearly closed, I look terrible and I have had to take
the day off work
possibly the rest of the week as my job involves dealing with people..
I joined the GTF because it is a large respectable world wide organisation.
Surely this sort of thing just reduces it to a back street kick boxing
farce...
If I wanted to receive this sort of injury I would have joined the WTF.
Even with them puches to the face are illegal and now I know why...
I am sorry if I sound bitter but I am in a great deal of pain...
Surely smashing your oppenents face, in anger, in a semi-contact sport
should result in disgualification as he went on
to win silver...
What if anything can I do?..
Regards..
Jason Harries..
