'Wraith' has been good enough to supply a limited dossier on 'Iceman', and the group's resident nethead has been able - after a few Computer rolls and a wee bit of cybercombat - to find an address to go with the dossier.
They have spoken with 'Iceman', and have realized that he really just wants to be left alone. This whole thing is because the nebulous 'they' have kidnapped his wife and kid, and he wants them back. The price he has to pay is - quite simply - the collective heads of the group. He will, however, spend two days preparing himself - as he has informed the group. He hopes that the problem might go away within those two days. He doesn't dare to try and free them on his own - whomever it is has a ritual sample of him, and though it isn't dangerous to him (he is far too powerful to attack ritually), it'll be easy to detect him through it. He has also been retired for quite a few years - his network of contacts has atrophied, making it difficult for him to obtain the information he needs to find his wife and his child.
The group takes the bait. They'll try and find his kid and wife, and thus end the threat from 'Iceman' - at least towards the group.
The first address they get on their data run is actually a wrong address - there's just a decker there calling himself NeoNinja, who fighted the wrong type of ice in a secret datastore belonging to the Silver Shadows. If he gets the chance to explain, he says that this kind of ice (a trace, and then something that fakes an entry in a less protected database, allowing enemies of the Silver Shadows to do the Silver Shadows' dirty work by letting enemies believe they have assets at the same locations that have tried to break in / managed to break in but got traced) is too heavy for the Silver Shadows to manage. He thinks that there might be at least one other group - with more resources - that cooperates with the Silver Shadows.
The next address on the safe house list from the Silver Shadows data store is actually not the correct one either - but one of the goons here was until recently a member of the Silver Shadows team that watched the kid and wife of Iceman until a new team came in and took over. He can provide a rough description of the numbers of the opposing team, as well as a rough guide to how much firepower they have available. He'll say that he thinks they are heavy hitters from out of town - and that they looked like they came from down south. This is the Aztech black ops team assigned to do this particular dirty job.
Stack the odds so that they are fairly tough - good cyber, well-trained opponents, and assault rifle quality equipment. However, a bit of scouting on the house - astrally or otherwise - will show that the kid and wife have it rough right now - they are both leashed with a 3m steel wire to a bed, and the bed contains a flechette anti-personnel charge. At least one mage is advised, and though no actual Blood Spirits should show up (that would be too much of a giveaway at this stage), the spirits of that mage should be strangely twisted and 'unclean' - give a +1 TN to banishing attempts because of this unclean nature.
If both the kid and the wife dies but the group survives, Iceman will be maddened with grief and strike out at whomever is closest. If the group dies - well, better luck next time.
If the group not only has a perfect success rate (rescuing both hostages without harm coming to either one), and the group behaves very courteously, they will know that Iceman owes them a favor. This might come in handy later on - or perhaps the Iceman will teach his Way to any adept that fits the bill (GM's decision).
