History/Origin:

On March 1, 1985, (some terrorist organization with members of all nationalities
that's appropriate to the GM's world) broke thru U.N. security & during the
resulting hostage crisis, the terrorists killed ~20% of the diplomats,
including the American & Soviet reps. To combat this crisis, A.T.R.A.
(Anti-Terrorist Response Android) was created. He (I don't like using "it")
swiftly dispatched the terrorists (using his teleportational talents & various
weapons he only gets to use as assigned by the GM for one-shot deals) and
became a world hero. He protects whatever diplomat(s) he is assigned to,
regardless of their country's policy or current actions, unless the country
in question threatens the U.N. of course.....

It is now March 3, 1990 (as I type this) and A.T.R.A. has had 5 years of
experience in our world, and in his spare time studies international diplomacy,
plays wargames ("they're only fictional"), and nursemaids diplomats and their
families. He also spends much of his week doing security duty at the U.N.
He hasn't joined a Hero Group yet, but has met other supers and will likely
join if the group's activities wouldn't interfere with his U.N. duties.

His creators wouldn't mind the additional publicity, as it would make it
easier for them to requisition the funds needed to create A.T.R.A. mark III...
(my character is Mark II, and the Masked Android is Mark I)

Of course, the Masked Android (a name mentioned in a recent Dragon(tm) issue
as an example of a character name which my GM latched onto) is still out there
wreaking havoc in an effort to destroy A.T.R.A., but so far, (boy doesn't this
sound like K.I.T.T. vs K.A.R.R. ?) A.T.R.A. survives.
