The encryption draft by Dave Borman has been modified to also require encryption of the Telnet option codes. The solution requires session keys to be exchanged in the authentication process.
The parties negotiate to find an encryption type they both support. New encryption types can easily be added.
A fast encryption type which uses IDEA has been proposed. This encryption type can easily be implemented if the PGP authentication type is implemented, since we then have IDEA available.
