The Priestess is the holy guardian of life and Death and the greatest supporter of The King. When he was struck down, she stood by his side, time and time again, bringing him back from the edge of Death. Some say that after his fight with the champion of the Goliaths, The King passed to Death, but The Priestess used her might to bring him back to life. As the challenges mounted against The King she ventured into the realm of the dead and brought back the previous saints to rally around their rightful king.
The Priestess is viewed as the most central element of the church, although not of the religion as a whole. While The King won the land of the HEM, The Priestess won the hearts of its people, and is occasionally viewed with as much reverence as The King, although this is technically heresy. Only the loyal followers of The Priestess are allowed to conduct ceremonies concerning the passing or arrival of souls, although there are smaller rituals one can perform that can be later vindicated if necessary.
The Priestess left her church with a ritual, which when performed, moves part of the spirit of The Priestess inside the caster. This is cast whenever a new worthy subject is elected, which occurs 8 weeks after the previous one dies. The one inhabiting the spirit of the Priestess is viewed to be an embodiment of The Priestess herself and one of the few divine authorities left in the land. She is also the only entity allowed to venture into the realm of the dead or otherwise dabble in the art of necromancy and resurrection, but she can give leave for others to perform resurrection rites on her behalf.
