The King's Council

World Overview

The King's Council

The King’s Council is in close association with the Church of the Priestess but differs in a few core principles. They do not ask for donations but are rather funded directly by their members or by the church. They do not involve themselves with lowly tasks or the administration of temples, exceptions only being made for the Grand Cathedrals. Finally, they have a rigorous approval process and training regimen. The King’s Council are the holy soldiers sworn to guard The King upon his return to this lowly land and strike ruthlessly at any heresy. They are much smaller than the Church, typically consisting of less than 200 members at any given time and they rarely operate in squads smaller than 10 men. As such, if you see a lone member you should feel safe, for there is a guardian amongst you, if there are 10 or more together, run, for there is a heretic amongst you. Their methods are mostly unknown, but they are assumed to dabble in anything that can gain them the upper hand in their never-ending battle against heresy.

Wilhelm, King’s Chosen

Wilhelm is the highest member of the King’s Council and became the leader after the previous one died in the dragon assault on the King’s Council war camp, while they were plotting their attack on the Dragon’s Shadow. Wilhelm was already a somewhat infamous member due to his zeal, exhibiting incredible brutality and certainty in battle against the heretical elements. On his election, he quickly instituted notable reforms, pulling the King’s Council away from the Church of the Priestess and committing to a policy of zero tolerance over heretical elements, actively seeking out all demonic influence in the land. He claimed these visions came from The King himself, who had chosen him as his follower. These sayings were technically heretical, but due to his actions giving increased freedom to the King’s Council members, they bannered around him, preventing the church of disposing of him. Wilhelm has at this point not been seen without his armor on for well over 10 years and is considered insane and very powerful. He has previously committed to a policy of zero tolerance for all cast down races, but also spoken out heavily against the closeness of Goliaths, Orcs and Half-orcs in cities, stating that they are the historic enemy of the Church.
